The Panther marked Grumman's entry into the jet age in 1946 with the first production aircraft flying in November of 1948. It went on to distinguish itself in the Korean conflict and formed the basis for the swept-wing Cougar.

The giant scale F9F Panther plan set is 1/6.3 scale and consists of three large sheets that clearly illustrate all structure as well as showing installation of flaps and retracts. The F9F Panther plan shows the installation of Robart retracts, fixed wire gear, servos and Dyna-max DF with OS .90 engine and features two piece wing. The basic structures use conventional “modeling” tools and materials such as balsa and plywood, and the techniques are straight forward easily accomplished by anyone with previous model building experience.
